One of those office days when the pressure slowly builds up
and then its a free
for all ,do or die situation . How many burnout situations have
passed like that .
Anyway I was ,as usual , in the middle of this ,as expected .
The router box was in the lab and I had to plug /unplug the cards to check if
my code worked .
That is when one of the cards got stuck and I cut my finger. I went to the first aid
room and applied the medicine ,plaster and all .
Went back to doing the card thing .A day passed .slowly i started getting the
feeling of what if ?
... its TETANUS.
I tried to brush it aside .But google was ever so near .and the thought of just
finding out the symptoms overpowered my desire to brush it aside .
I began the search about tetanus ,how it begins,where and when the pain begins
and whether there were
any similarities to my condition .
Coincidentally ,the conditions seemed similar and panic started slowly creeping in .
The muscle pain and the finger movements were getting restricted just as
I had read .
Could you call this GoogleItis ?
Well , I got to this level of paranoia that I rush to the nearest "Five Star Hospital" ,the cheesy Sagar Apollo :-( .
I sat in the parking lot and I thought out loud - "If I dont go in ,
I might die of tetanus .
But If I do go in ,
I might not die but they will drain the last paisa out of my
pocket and tell me there was nothing wrong with
me in the first place ".Yes ,they are that cheesy .
I decided to go home . Back to Dr.Google .I liked the idea that I could
drive this doctor to
think in an angle I wished it to .
Bearing the brunt of my "pain" was my wife and kid ,who gracefully ,
held their calm .
But it was too much for them to bear when I decided to rush to St John's
emergency at 12AM .
The emergency room is not a place for the faint hearted .Poison cases ,
suicidals ,you name an extreme human condition ,its there .
Yet I managed to stay calm till the duty doctor rushes at me and
starts shouting at me without even knowing what I came there for .
I waited patiently for him to finish as I was only trying to figure out what
he said.
By then a lady doctor comes and tells this agitated doctor that the
poisoned patients' relative is not me .
doctor 1 leaves . lady doctor asks me whats wrong ?
I say i feel I got tetanus .. the spasms ..er..
She tells me bluntly that I wouldnt be standing if I really had
tetanus .
Smiled and told me to go home . That simple . Dr Google vanished .
Anxiously waiting in the car was my wife and kid and seeing
my
sheepish grin ,they sighed in relief .
All's quiet in the car . phew .
